a message from fundraiser organizer Gwen Hesser:
School for Scolastica, Rabia, Nureen and Rahma costs about $2,000/year for each girl. This includes tuition, textbooks, school supplies, uniforms, etc. Broken down that means all 4 girls can attend school if 80 people to commit to giving $10/month. (Or more simply, if 80 people give or fundraise $100/year). The good news is that sounds insanely easy so hopefully we can make that happen.
The more difficult reality is that some sponsorship programs end up abandoning kids half-way because they run out of funds, and we refuse to be one of those. Therefore, in order to commit to the girls when school starts this January, we need to raise enough for their first 2 years of school so that we have time to raise more funds for the last 4 years (secondary school is 6 years in Tanzania) and hopefully even university. That’s a total of $16,000 to raise before January — so your help is greatly appreciated!!
I’ve personally spent time with and seen the homes of all of these girls and can vouch for their genuine amazingness, as well as their devastatingly dire circumstances. I hate asking for money – but these girls are definitely worth it.
